Finals day rolled around and it was a nice day to finish off proceedings at this year's Neo race, the semis were fast-paced and hectic as the always are, the major story from the A being Ronnefalk - in a comfortable position until a flame out, cue a ballistic drive up to fight with Boots for the 8th spot which might have put either one in the final, had it not been for Adam Drake. A flame out at the start made life very tough for the 2x Neo champion, but he made it to the main, ousting Boots as the magic bonus 8th place. Starting on pole Jared Tebo made sure that any battling and action would not involve him, as he opened up a small gap of a few seconds, first to Neil Cragg, then to others as the 'lead chaser' role switched. Tebo was utterly dominant, never really pushing himself to the limit, driving a very controlled precise final. No such luck for Ryan Lutz, unfortunately not the best of starts put him towards the rear, similarly high hopes for Ryan Maifield ebbed away as he didn't get the start he would have needed to latch onto Tebo's towbar and challenge him... In the end the last lap action boiled down to Cavalieri vs. Batlle, the latter of the two - 2nd for much of the race, reclaiming that spot - a feat Robert was clearly delighted with as he showed emotion at the end of the race. In the end, and as we've written here a few times before in years gone by, no one had an answer for Tebo in the final, a deserved win for the young father.

Neo2010, 2-5 April 2010 Harper Adams, UK

Easily the best final to watch in the history of the Neo race, now in its 5th year, we have our first non-American winner; Yannick Aigoin. Starting on pole he drove fantastically to claim a victory he clearly felt was within his grasp. The final started out with Yannick leading, than Drake taking over, building a gap, threatening to do what Drake has done so well in previous visits; roll off into the sunset and win by huge margins – not so this time, Yannick, Mike Truhe kept Drake within sight, and a few bobbles & mistakes levelled things out. The lead changed numerous times, looking like the victory & podium would be shared between one of three Losi team mates. It wasn’t long however until a certain Mr Maifield turned up knocking on the trios’ back doors, Maifield battled for what seemed an eternity with Drake & Truhe, who also in turn had small fights. All the while Yannick was inching away into the lead, not by much as the trio were arguably slightly faster, but Yannick more consistent… coupled with the Novarossi engines’ runtime advantage (Drake / Aigoin pitting ~ 11:30) it looked like it could boil down to strategy to determine the winner. Not so, as Maifield and Truhe; both on disadvantageous pitstops kept up with Drake and muscled their way into 2nd and 3rd, Drake having to settle for fourth will be a disappointment but taking TQ over six rounds isn’t so bad… Back to Yannick, out front the pit times meant he came out just behind 2nd & 3rd, however with fuel to go to the end, Maifield & Truhe had to pit again and this gave Aigoin breathing space. A tough final to put across on paper, but hugely exciting with anyone of four possible challengers looking able to win.

Neo09 - 10-13 April 2008 Harper Adams, UK

The 4th running of the Neo race took place April 10-13th, this time we were blessed with ‘almost t-shirt’ weather - perfect for an RC Race! The format stuck to 10min heats, with 180 entries in the nitro buggy class and a special eletric 1/8 buggy class which provided some good entertainment; Ryan Maifield was easily the best in electric as he swept to victory. In nitro buggy things were closer, TQ wasn’t established until the 5th and last round as Jared Tebo overhauled a poor start to show everyone he was the man to beat. The 45min final saw Tebo in command, Darren Bloomfield close at times, but not able to realy hassle Tebo as he counted down the laps to victory.

Neo08 - 15- March 2008 Harper Adams, UK

With DXR hosting the 2007 Pro-Line indoor in April and the Harper Adams College extending it’s winter term dates I decided why not move the race to Easter 2008. This decision proved decisive as it allowed us to extend the race from a conventional 3 day meeting to an IFMAR styled hybrid 4 day event. 204 drivers attended but it was once again Adam Drake who stormed to victory in front of team mate Mike Truhe; Adam’s win continues the trend that only American drivers have TQ’d and won the Neo Race... The event as a whole went very well, in terms of organisation it was close to flawless, with experienced people running the event, the only problem was the extreme cold weather; at one point it was snowing through the air vents.
